Haldeman, Joe. "A Separate War" Far Horizons. Robert Silverberg, ed. New York, Avon EOS, 1999. Coll. War Stories.

Marygay Potter's story during the time of "Major Mandella" in The Forever War (i.e., when Potter is necessarily off-stage, so to speak, while Mandella tells his story after their separation). See for plugging into machines, or being plugged into a machine for sex (War Stories 127 & passim) and various kinds of military mahem: in the ALSC (131 f.; § 3—& passim), identified in Forever War as an "Accelerated Life Situation Computer" ("Major Mandella" § 1). Note: "[…] all of the ALSC templates were male" (136), so Marygay experiences herself in simulation as a male warrior. (RDE, 22/07/06)
