The starship Andromeda Ascendant is embodied—literally—in a humanoid android played by the Canadian actress Lexa Doig. Briefly discussed by David Z. C. Hines in "Gene Roddenberry's 'Andromeda,'" Cinefantastique 32.3 (October 2000): 4-5;[1] and in "Of Sex and Starships," Cinefantastique 33.3 (June 2001): 12-15. A publicity shot caption in the later story reads, "More than machine: As a living avatar of the warship Andromeda, "Roomie" is Lexa Doig's […] attempt to grant soul to AI" (14).
