Wiener, Norbert. Cybernetics: or, Control and Communication in the Animal and the Machine. Cambridge, MA: MIT P, 1948.

The introduction of the new science of cybernetics to the general scientific community and to a fairly wide popular audience. Note well the early yoking in cybernetics of communication and control, animal and machine.

Discussed respectfully, but corrected, and critiqued, in Jessica Riskin's Restless Clock, ch. 9, pp. 310 f.
