DAYBREAK (vt À NOUS LA LIBERTÉ). René Clair, dir. France: Tobis (prod.), 1931.

Early sound film ending happily "when the oppressive, prison-like factory" featured in the film "continues to produce machines by itself, leaving human beings free to dance, sit by the river, and relax in the sun" (G. Mast 528 in article cited under Reference). Cf. and contrast C. Chaplin's MODERN TIMES; contrast P. K. Dick's "Autofac" (q.v. under Fiction).
