Fix-up of episodes in the BBC serial. The Daleks in DOCTOR WHO are usually militaristic robots bent on "universal conquest" and wide-spread exterminating; they are opposed by Doctor Who. See the S. F. Ency. entries for "Daleks" and "Dr Who"; and see under dFiction T. Dicks, The Adventures of Dr. Who and other novelizations of Doctor Who episodes. In this series of episodes, the Daleks are organic creatures who encase themselves in individual, mobile machines for protection against residual radiation from the last, quite final, war; the Daleks rule a high-tech city surrounded by a wasteland that is mostly a dead forest.
