Fifth book in the Dune series, wherein FH makes more explicit themes implicit in the series relevant for mechanized environments and mechanization vs. emotions (esp. love). See Tleilaxu Face Dancers as both "communal beings" like "hive insects" and "flesh made into automata" (75; Berkley edn.), and the revelation that Tleilaxu "axlotl tanks" for the gestation of gholas are human females linked "to giant metal containers" by "a maze of dark tubes" (435).
