Strada, Michael J. "Kaleidoscopic Nuclear Images of the Fifties." JPC 20.3 (Winter 1986): 179-98.

MJS brings the perspective of a political scientist to put the highly negative SF view of fission and fusion bombs onto a 1950s spectrum which included a foreign policy elite with "the image of the bomb as a 'winning weapon'" (180) and nuclear scientists who saw the H-bomb as morally reprehensible but also "technically sweet" (192-93).
