An important "mundane" film for the human/machine interface.[1] Note esp. Chaplin's now-employed tramp on the assembly line, trapped in the feeding machine, and being pushed through the gears of a gigantic mechanism. These sequences add up to a cogent, if symbolic and grotesque, commentary on the condition of workers in industrialized society. See in this Category DAYBREAK.
