Plastic Man as a novel "where a religious sect that worships a sentient computer advocates voluntary castration" (p. 6).[3] For computer rule and worship of an AI, cf. and contrast Vaal in the original (classic) Star Trek episode "The Apple" and the computer Landru in "The Return of the Archons."[4][5] The castration angle is unusual.
