Having had his brain wired to interact with the computers of a General Dynamics A-230 fighter aircraft, an honorably discharged George Jackson must learn to live with some of the more ancient parts of his brain. He's aided in this by a similarly wired woman and by Aleph, the computer person who runs Athena Station—and who interfaces with Jackson, teaching Jackson to see the world as Aleph sees it. (Cf.
