Horror SF of the "trapped in the deadly castle, in space" variety — with the gothic castle replaced by an encompassing modernist (implausibly large) high-tech space station — for which cf. and contrast ALIEN (film) et al. Note also moderately-high "ick" factor, as with ALIEN, and the transgression of bodily and other boundaries in the human crew, or of getting sucked into the walls of the station, possibly including parts' removal or bodily penetration. Of some interest, a speedy, high-tech 3-D printer, capable of quickly producing a pistol, bullets, and a small clip holding the bullets. The film also bags its quota of hexagons[5] (and an octagon or two).
For opening/going through an implied figurative portal into an alternate universe, cf. and contrast EVENT HORIZON, where the portal is explicit.
