THE FLY. David Cronenberg, dir., co-author of script. USA: Brooksfilms, 1986. Jeff Goldblum, star. Remake with significant changes of Kurt Neumann's 1958 film (based on the short story by George Langelaan).

A rather touching love story significant here for its funky-looking contemporary laboratory and for the fusion in the final sequence of man, fly, and machine. Briefly handled Bruce Kirkland, "THE FLY," Cinefantastique 16 (July 1986): 15 f. See this Category, VIDEODROME. (Caution: Cronenberg's THE FLY can be rough going for people figuratively weak of stomach or literally strong of gag mechanism.)

David Cronenberg comments usefully on his film of THE FLY and Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis (1915): "The Beetle and the Fly,"The Paris Review, 17 January 2014.[1]
