THE PERFECT WOMAN. Bernard Knowles, dir. UK: Two Cities (Eagle-Lion), 1949 (US release: 1950). "Based on the play by Wallace Geoffrey and Basil Mitchell."

Romantic farce involving a young woman and her robot look-alike. Conclusion of film is "mildly apocalyptic": the robot goes out of control, walks through a hotel, and explodes (S. F. Ency., our source for this entry, and whom we quote; see for an instructively kinky photo of the robot "wearing a dazzlingly fetishistic display of old-fashioned underwear").
