WATERWORLD. Kevin Reynolds, director. Peter Rader and David Twohy, script. Kevin Costner, star, producer (one of four). Dennis Gassner, production design.[1] USA: Universal Pictures (presents), Gordon Company, Davis Entertainment, Licht/Mueller Film Corporation (production) / Universal Pictures and Universal International Pictures (main distribution), 1995. See IMDb for complex details of distribution.[2]

Aquatic Mad Max movie, relevant here for the intimate relations between humans and their machines — primarily Costener's Mariner character — in the boats and water habitats of Waterworld. Note the traditional tension between sailors of sail- vs. powerboats taken to lethal extremes, with the villains associated with the internal-combustion engine, petroleum, pollution, and cigarettes (with "appropriate technology" of the petrol-driven sort used on occasion by the positive characters).

IMDb lists a Waterworld video game. Metacritic reviews at this link,[3] with an interesting split in evaluation between the professional critics and the piling on of amateurs without the background to know what is covered in the phrase, "Worst movie ever" (and others who don't know to check the long-term, planet-wide earnings of a film before calling it a total flop).
